The prAna Hemp Collection

prAna is known for their use of eco-friendly materials to produce garments that are not only fashionable but sustainable & kind to the environment. Their clothing is designed with style & versatility in mind to take you straight from the office & into the great outdoors. Check out my review on my favorite prAna Briann pants here. Based in Southern California, prAna has been advocating for the legal usage of hemp in the apparel manufacturing industry long before the recent legalization of the cannabis market. I fully support the company’s mission on using natural & organic materials that are not only healthy for the consumer but the entire planet as well.

Why prAna Hemp?

For the eco-conscious consumer, hemp is the latest trend in fashion. Grown organically in China, hemp is a bio-remediator that removes toxins & replenishes nutrients back into the soil that it grows in. It has a minimal impact on the environment as it takes up less water & land resources, allowing farmers to grow the plants alongside other crops. Another advantage of hemp is that it is resistant to predators & thus requires no pesticides nor special fertilizers, protecting agricultural workers as well as neighboring crops.

prAna hemp is lightweight & breathable, yet is a highly durable fabric. It is thermo-conducive which keeps you cool in hot temperatures & warm in the cold. Because in its natural form hemp tends to be rough, it is often blended with other materials including organic cotton, recycled polyester &/or spandex. These unique blends create additional performance features such as decreased drying time & anti-microbial properties.

For the prAna Hemp Campaign, I chose to review the Cozy Up Sweatshirt & the Beaker Pant. First off, let me tell you how much I adore the way prAna ships out their products. Every item comes neatly rolled & tied up with twill ribbon. Absolutely zero plastic packaging involved!

I decided to put my two prAna items to the test on an extended weekend trip to San Francisco. The weather ranged from warm sunshine to cool, blustery winds which was perfect for my review in a variety of conditions. Why I ❤️ My prAna Cozy Up Sweatshirt

Function.

The prAna Cozy Up Sweatshirt is an essential basic piece that should be in every woman’s wardrobe. It is perfect for fall weather excursions, coffee dates, or simply practicing hygge (Scandinavian concept of wellness & contentment) at home.

prAna’s entire Cozy Up collection features Cardiff Fleece that has a soft, worn-in vintage feel to it. This hybrid fleece consists of hemp, recycled polyester, & Tencel that wicks moisture & naturally inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria. I admit I wore my sponsored outfit two days in row with no issues nor shame! This innovative fabric also has UPF 50+ protection that helps shield against harmful UV rays.

Fit.

The Cozy Up Sweatshirt has a crew neck & twill tape running along its raglan sleeves. It is extremely comfortable with soft, ribbed cuffs & a bottom band that doesn’t ride up with movement. While the sweatshirt is considered an oversized fit, its pinched detailing in the back keeps it from looking sloppy. Even after a couple washes, the fabric has maintained its shape & size. Additionally, there is no fading, loose threads, nor pilling noted.

Fashion.

When it comes to casual wear, I prefer low maintenance styles that are easy to just throw on yet still make me feel confident & the Cozy Up Sweatshirt provides just that. This is athleisure at its best without looking too much like gym or lounge wear. I plan to purchase a couple more colors in their new fall shades!

Why I ❤️ My prAna Beaker Pant

Function.

Made of a hemp & organic cotton blend, the prAna Beaker pant has amazing four-way stretch to allow for ease of movement. I was able to hike around the Golden Gate Bridge & position myself into one-legged yoga balances on the beach without any restrictions. The material is thick & maintains warmth in the cold, yet breathable enough to stay cool when the temperatures rise. It is very durable & I could tell it would be able to withstand high intensity activities such as climbing or even exploring in the snow.

Fit.

Like a favorite pair of leggings, the Beaker fits like second skin. It features a mid-rise, wide elastic waistband that helps flatten unwanted bumps. I do recommend sizing down because the material seems to stretch more than other fabrics.

My only wish was that the pant came in different inseams, as the fabric kept bunching up around my ankles. While it has a regular 28” leg length, my small 5’2” frame prefers the short inseam available in many other prAna styles. But because of the stretchiness of the fabric, this was a minor setback & I was able to readjust the pants easily.

Fashion.

I absolutely love the organic texture & detailing of the seams. The paneled look provides a slimming effect & helps lengthen the legs. It also has back pockets which adds to the unique design of these effortless pants. The Beaker is a very versatile piece, whether you are practicing yoga at the studio or just running errands around town. I can definitely see myself wearing it all season long.
